Default Help with Tire-Wheel Selection.

Hey I am just about done with a Rancho RS6274 4" lift, spindles, springs, and new sub-frame on a 2wd 1996 Ram 1500 with 265/75x16. I was a PITA, complete rebuild of the front end. I am now ready for new tires and wheels. I would like to know what tires and wheels everyone uses, particularly the back spacing because the stock wheel rub on the upper support of the spindles. I was leaning toward 16x8 steel wheels, 16x10 would seem to wide.

One suggestion might be to go with a 15 inch wheel, more tires are available and the price is a little less from what I have heard.

EDIT: You might also want to state what kind of driving you plan on doing. Judging by the lift, I would guess you would be doing some off-roading, are you more interested in an all-terrain or mud-terrain tire? As far as the backspacing, I am sure someone else will be more knowledgeable than myself.

My father has these tires on his truck(even though its a silverado), and they have held up very nicely: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

I tend to drive the high desert trails and occasionally sand dunes. 15" wheels would rub on tie rod ends and the tires almost new, only have less than 5k miles on them. I think a 16x10 wheel with a backspacing of 4" might work.

id say go with dick cepek 16x8's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-16x...item1c136b6976 and then go with treadwright.com for tires. id say 265/75 or 285s

Well you should find out what rancho recomends for the wheels, you might have to step up to a 17inch rim or get a rim with less backspacing. I personally would love to see some pics of this lift sounds like you went through alot of work installing this, a question I have for you though....why did you go with this lift over others.

Also since you know were the rim is rubbing measure your rim and get the backspacing and see if just moving it out some will clear issues and figure out how far you have to go

With those size tires I would not get the 10 inch wide rims stick to an 8 inch wide rim, and with a 4 inch lift you will be able to clear a bigger tire if wanted
