it comes with heads. everything but valve covers, manifolds and accesories. i hooked a vaccum gauge to the crankcase and found no vacuum actually like 1 psi pressure. pcv system was replaced too so i figured it was worn rings?

Yes, the engine comes with heads, but, more than likely, the same problematic heads that came from the factory..... (thin decks, prone to cracking, etc.) Also note, roller engines are slight additional cost....... (and I do believe that you would need the roller motor....) However.... Five year warranty..... You may or may not be able to rebuild yours for the same money, with better parts. (better heads, slightly meaner cam, assorted other upgrades....) Up to you really. For a complete motor, WITH a warranty, not a bad price. (let us know how much they want for the roller motor....)

Yeah, I believe the Magnum engines have roller hydraulic lifters. And yes, the warranty IS a good selling point. Make sure you read the fine print on that though, they are going to want a fair few new parts, (water pump being right up there on the list) so there WILL be some additional cost to go along with the price of the engine. (better to know this stuff BEFORE you fork out the cash for the motor as well.....)

The advantage of building your own though, is that you can pick and choose what parts go into it, (better heads....) you deal with local folks for any machine work that goes into it, so if there is a problem, you can just go and see them. (much easier to say BUGGER OFF! over the phone.....)

I would suggest calling around, pricing out parts, (make a list of what you will need/want), get a total for going either way, and see which idea appeals to you more.

A warranty is only as good as the person or company who gives it.

I would just replace the plenum for 150 dollars before you spend 2K on a motor. Remember you have to pay freight charges for the core (your old engine).

ALso, duralast gives a LIFETIME warranty on their brake pads, but you have to MAIL THEM back to their facility to get "tested" if they fall within specs, they do not replace them. YOu basically have to wait until they are so bad, that they do damage to your rotors before you can get a new pair. Then you have to wait fro them to mail you new ones.

It is a scam. Ask them how they would replace a head if it ever cracked. And ask them how long you would be without a truck.

Personally I would put a used motor in it with low miles, check this website out I use it pretty often.. http://car-part.com/ or http://www.mintonmotorsinc.com/memory_lane.html, I have never used them but a few guys on here have..
