i don't have a manual trans, but it should have a fill plug on the side - CAUTION, check the service manual for the location - i read somewhere? about a guy that took the wrong bolt/nut off and ending up having to remove the trans to put it back together.

Manuals don't have dipsticks. There's a fill plug on the side, 17mm allen. You can find Pennzoil synchromesh at most auto parts stores.

Yes. TBH, I pull the shifter out to fill mine rather than mess with getting a bottle of oil stuffed up in there to pour it in, also allows me to overfill it a little, IMO 2 quarts isn't much fluid.

No, the filler plug is on the passenger side. It is very large and yes its 17mm. You can pick up a kit of hex keys for the 3/8 drive including the 17MM at autozone for 9.99. Be extremely careful not to over tighten it when you put it back.

I read a lot of bad things about the aftermarket NV3500 tranny fluid. I know its costly ($20 a quart), but I went to the dealership and bought three quarts. From completely empty it took just under 2 quarts.

I just took a cap/nipple from a bottle of differential oil and put a small length of vacuum hose on the end and filled at the filler plug. If you want to over fill, jack up the passenger side.

My bad, been a while since I've messed with the fill plug, as I said I fill through the shifter now.

The Synchromesh meets all the same specs as the Mopar fluid.. But for the love of god at least don't use gear oil in a NV3500.

regarding how to fill it. my son-in-law has a jeep with no room at the rear diff fill plug.

we bought a pump/hose at walmart for a couple of dollars that works great. it has a tube that fits in the bottle and will screw on, then a little plunger thing that you pump, and then a limber little hose about 2 or 3 feet long that you can work into any tight spot. best few bucks ever spent.
