Default Fog Lights

Hello

I have a question about putting in fog lights. My old dodge that is no longer with us had fog-lights from the factory, so it had the switch right in the dash.

Now my new dodge does not have fog lights, but it does have the holes in the bumper for them, it also does not have a switch in the dash or even a place to put one.

My questions are
  • Where do you get fog lights installed?
  • What kind of a switch do they put in?
  • Where do they put the switch?

Thanks in advanced for your replies.

Fog light switch went in the dash, next to the O/D Off switch. My guess is, that the wiring for them is probably already there....... Might wanna poke around under and around the bumper, and have a look.

That's the thing, in my 96 there was a o/d switch and the fog light switch in the dash.

In the 98 the o/d switch is in the shifter not in the dash, there is no place in the dash for any switches what so ever, so im wondering where they would put it, i mean they could put a switch in the dash but that means cutting a hole into the dash for one. Maybe that's what they do, i don't know.

You should be able to have them put the switch wherever you want it. I put mine in the gauge bezel right next to the headlight switch. Had to trim the dash a little behind it.

The factory switch was combined with the headlight switch. Turn right for the headlights, pull for the fog lights.

Ah, I looked at your "my truck" link, and thought you HAD a 96. Didn't realize the past tense was quite so appropriate.

Yeah, on the 98 and newer, the Fog light switch was incorporated into the headlight switch.

On my 98 it is integrated with the air bag shut off switch.

The 98's had the pull-style headlight switch from 97. They didn't get the turn-style switch until 1999.

And there should be some sort of factory light connection hidden in the bumper somewhere....at least there is on a 97.....

There is an OEM kit you can buy on ebay for about 75 buccs. The light housings bolt up, and come with bulbs, wiring, and a switch. However, the switch is not an oem style, it is just a simple toggle you can mount anywhere. Hope this helps.
