Default V-10 advice

Hello,
This is my first post. Thanks for reading.I have owned several 2nd generation 4x4 rams with 318, 360, CTD and V-10. I am having trouble pinning down an issue with my 1995 ram 2500 4x4 v-10. The truck has 25,000 actual miles on it. I can smell raw fuel when the truck idles (poorly although I realize most v-10's do). The truck gets very poor mileage (even for a v-10 dodge). I have a new set of mopar performance plug wires that have yet to be installed. I have checked each cylinder for spark with a timing light and they all seem to fire. I live in SC and would welcome any suggestions of a mechanic familiar with this motor. I would be willing to travel if needed. I am also very handy with a wrench. I really like the truck and would like to see if I can get it running a little better. Thanks again for reading and any advice you may be able to offer.

thanks for the reply. my computer was reflashed in 01 or so. has a official dodge sticker written on in ball point pen. Just don't have any faith in the local dealers. Any simple tests to eliminate the cats or o2 sensor? Thanks again.
