Some tire questions
So, if that is the case, then you think everyone should be driving Bugatti Veyrons, as they cost about a million bucks a copy? Therefore, should be the best car????
Purples age is not the issue. He may be young but he is entitled to an opinion and also he comes up with some damn good information at times.-`
Thank you. I think some people get off on the wrong foot and really show their pure ignorance when they see my age. BigRed, since you are such the know it all, comment on the comment I made instead of making half *** remarks that have no association to the topic on hand.

I swear kids get stupider and stupider every decade.
No, no you haven't. You haven't owned anything a day in your life. You're 15, you aren't of legal age to own anything. "Har har har blow out dgaf, insurance will fix it." I bet your insurance company will have a hard time reassembling your mangled body in a serious accident.

Don't blow him off just because of his age. He is actually pretty knowledgeable. In fact, he is actually more capable than some folks I have seen (and had the displeasure of working with...) that do this kind of thing for a living.
Back to the subject of the thread please, guys...
and on that subject, my experience with "re-treads" is from some years ago and I hope that technology has yielded a more reliable product.
My step-dad was one of those protypical cheapskates and always bought re-treads for the family car and his car. TWICE we had blow-outs while on trips in my moms or the "family car" when I was young. Once when I was about nine and the second time when I was about twelve. Luckily, both times he was able to get the car over to the side of the road without incident. But both times were a little tense. After the second time my mom forbid him to put re-treads on her car again.
Now I'm going back thirty years, and like I said, I hope that technology is better in the things today.
Now I know things are tough all over and I'm not working steady right now due to some family health issues, but I don't skimp on tires. I've gone through Goodyears and BFGs through the years on my trucks and have issues with both of them. About 15 years ago, after having cupping issues from hell and uneven wear on a set of BFG M/Ts and after the tire dealer assured me it was "my truck", I bought a set of Mickey Thompson MTXs and they never cupped and wore fine without changing anything else on my truck (a Furd diesel 4x4).
I have since never put anything else on my trucks except Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepek tires with very good results. My '98 Ram had a set of Mickey MTXs (now replaced by the MTZ) within the first month of taking it off the showroom floor along with a body lift I installed. Traded the truck in with 68,000 miles on it and with those same tires which still would easily have passed the penny test!
Not a cheap tire by any means, but if you were to weigh out the long term cost I think you'd find them to be more inexpensive over the long haul due to their longevity. I have pulled many nails and screws out of my Mickey's and current Cepek FCIIs up around my old piece of farm property but NONE have completely made it through the carcass. At the same time, when I had BFG Long Trails on my Jeep, I put 5 plugs in 4 tires over a 2 year period. There is no substitute for peace of mind.
I fully understand if the funds are not there for a "premium" tire and some people gotta do what they gotta do. But if the money is there for it, get a good tire...

And how old are you? The way you act and treat people on this forum makes you look like you're twelve.
Sheesh.
I thought you were like, over 30.
Any way, I can recommend Yokohamas.
They are pretty quiet, have good traction, have a sh!tton of sizes, and have good wear if you don't have any mechanical failures.
