headlight issues

Default headlight issues

my trucks headlights are having an intresting issues that i can not figure out. they are either on or off, sometimes they turn on when i pull the switch other times they dont if i drive somewhere they will do the opposite (stay on,not turn on) they never flicker never shut off when i go somewhere high beams work IF the headlights work dont work if they arent working, im not sure whats causing this, but if anyone has an idea thatd be awesome

Welcome to DF!

Both the headlight switch on the dash and the dimmer lever/switch on the steering column are known to be weak points. I'd check one, and if no obvious problems there, the other. Look for melted or loose wires, or other signs of damage.

i having a similair issue my running lights will turn on but no headlights or fog lights any suggestions?

Had a similar problem with my 99. Lights would go out. Turns out it was the wiring harness inside the steering column. I use the tilt all the time and it wore the wires causing them to short and melt. Got to the point where when i tilted the steering down the truck shut off. Rewired and soldered the whole harness and re routed it in the colunm. That was a couple years ago. Been fine ever since.
