Good luck on the lift man. I hope there will be no problem on doing that.

For a good all around drivable and tow friendly half ton rig, I suggest sticking with a 5" lift and 35's and still considering 4.88's. 4.56's will work fairly well for just driving, but when you are towing you will really be wanting the 4.88's.

Yep I gotta agree with the crowd here. 37s are a lot to ask from a 1/2 ton truck suspension, even if it is SFA.
Do-able, but you'll be changing out front end parts a lot more often and the likelihood of having a problem off road is increased dramatically.

5-6", 35's and 4.56s would be a killer combo...

Well, I'm gonna go against the crowd with the whole if you tow you should have 4.88's theory. I have 33x12.5 mud tires on my ram... 3.55 gears and I tow with it ALOT. Never have a problem and the truck pulls it without hesitation. Now people say I should run 4.10's because I tow with 33's, buffalo droppings I say. If you run 35's and 4.56's trust me the gears will hold up just fine for towing. The 4.88's is better for a bit more power but not a must like some/a good majority of people will tell you.

That just erks me when people put up that debate. To me if your are going to run 4.88 gears you should wait.. UPGRADE AXLES.. THEN go to 4.88's. To me 4.88's on a half ton is just plain stupid.

Hammer said it all... 5'' lift - 35's - 4.56 gears... orgasm.

What are you babbling about? Put some quotes in there so we know what you're talking about.

Heres a pic of what I'm use

Harbor feight 40 bucks. Just sucks having to change between the 1 7/8 and the 2 5/16 about once a week.
What really sucks is when you do the 7 inch lift, and put the 37s on it only to realize your gooseneck doesn't adjust that high and now it clips the corners of your box when you pull in and out of the driveway. I spent a couple hundred in metal getting the entire neck raised and stretched out another foot.

Opps consider 35 than for towing but it seems to late.

It scares me that there are people with light pickups lifted 7 inches, pulling around modified goosers on roads that I drive on.

Hammer said it all... 5'' lift - 35's - 4.56 gears... orgasm.

what irks me is when people goto all the trouble to do a gear swap then say 'well i should have gone 4:56 instead of 4:10'

doing a gearswap is a great modification to make to a vehicle. it doesn't have to be made to 'bring it back to stock'.... . the factory ratio is made with gas mileage etc, in mind. tell me you dont' drive a dodge for the gas mileage. straight up, 4:88s will give you better performance in all ways. so why wouldn't you make the move? the first time you step on the gas and chirp your 35s, you'll know it was the right choice.

i tow with stock gears and 35s right now. i turn OD off cause its no good. with 4:88s, you'll be right in the power ban of the motor with OD, instead of popping into 2nd to climb hills.

last word on this; if you're towing, would you rather have a lil' more low end, slower speed grunt, or better MPG TOWING on the highway? with an overdrive tranny, the jump in gearing is barely noticable on the highway, but you will sure feel it pulling away from a traffic light.
so, heck ya, i'd go 4:88.

unless yo ulike to drive your truck consistantly at 90 - 100 MPH............ then go 4:10.........
