Default oil change intervals

Hey everyone. When do all of you change your engine oil? I know everyone has their own maintenence schedules. I've cut back on driving my pickup due to the purchase of a mini cooper, for MPG reasons, and I got to thinking today about when the last time I changed oil in the pickup was and I couldn't remember. So I looked and it was all the way back in december, 7 months ago! and it only has about 2,000 miles on it. I was changing it religiously every 3,000 miles before the mini cooper because it was my main vehicle. So I'm debating whether to change it now since its been over half a year or should I not worry about it until around the 3,000 mark? I run Delo 15-40 in it.

Sh^t I change it when it gets dirty, my dad was letting it go every year about 10,000 miles without a problem its got 167000 on it know so he must have been doing something right, but a year is the reccomended time to change the oil if you dont put many miles on it

I do it every 3000 miles or 3 months...which ever comes first. BTW, what kind of mpg's are you getting on that mini? I heard they get 40 miles a gallon.

Every 5000 miles or 6 months (it's usually 6 months as I average about 8K a year) with a full synthetic and usually a Wix (NAPA Gold) filter...

Cool

I change mine every 3000 miles religiously!!! I've been using the amsoil 10W-40 synthetic Hi-zinc since the truck had 12,000 miles on it. They claim you can go to 25000 miles without changing it, but for me doing it every 3000 miles is just because that's my routine maintenance schedule.

If my truck was not being driven, I would not worry about changing it that often. Once every six months would be fine.

i wouldnt worry too much about month wise, as long as its not over 6 months to a year, cause oil does have a breakdown period but not 3 months.
I changed my oil every 3 k on my old 95 360, because it burned a quart every 3k

I sure don't miss the old days of 1000 mile oil changes and grease jobs.
Then Kendall came out with the 2000 mile oil.
