Default Rust on bottom of doors

I used to live in Illinois where I bought my truck off a good family friend. In Illinois they use salt on the roads during winter which in turn causes crazy fast rusting. The bottom of both my doors on my truck are rusted pretty badly. The lower part on the outside does not look too bad. There is a little bubbling and some rust starting to peak up from underneath. But the very bottom of the door is rusted through pretty much. What's the best way to remove this as cheaply as possibly? I was thinking i could just cut it all out and patch over it by riveting on some sheet metal and then paint the sheet metal with bed liner. I figure it would give the truck a pretty tough look, any opinions or other suggestions?

Check local junkyards, and see if you can find doors in halfway decent condition.

The sheetmetal trick would work as well....

LMC truck sells door shells for about 500 bucks a whack.... bit much for my tastes.

I have rust on my rocker panels. I was thinking about getting a hold of a body shop to have it repaired. I'm a little scared of the cost though.

I'd go with what HeyYou said. See if you can find some decent doors.

I shopped and shopped for a fix. To take it to a body shop will run you anywhere from $1800-2800 depending on the shop and what they are going to do.

If you know a welder you can cut the bottom half of the doors off and replace with new skins, sand, prime, and repaint. If not then you can get doors off a junk yard. I found some doors but the junk yard wanted $400 a piece for the doors.

I did a search here last year. I followed the directions and the doors looked good. Now I see some rust coming back. Time to get body tools out and do it again. This time do a better job at grinding all the rust off.
