Default truck is knockin

well this has been goin on for a little while now and i just remebered the forum. The truck started makeing a tapping sound. i check the oil it was really low. So i filled it up still made the sound. Idk if my oil pump might not be working.Im pretty shore the gauge on the dash is broke cause it was always acting funning. now it dosn't read anything.I figured if the truck is not geting oil pressure it would have blow up by now. Any ideas?

Put a mechanical gauge on it, and see what the oil pressure really is. Knocking isn't good.....

Could be the oil sending unit. To fix this replace is its on top of the motor under the fire wall.

Could be spinning one of the bearings inside the motor. To fix that run a thicker weight old.

If a bearing has spun it needs a helluva lot more than thicker oil!

And tosses parts out the side of the block.

Best idea would be to drop the pan, see what it looks like, and maybe slap some new bearings in there........
