Default Will 305 fit with 2"

As some of you might recall, I am in the process of lifting my truck mildly. First step was the gears (done now). Next step is a Skyjacker 2" lift. Last step is larger tires to go on a set of 2001 17" Off-Road rims. I was planning to run a 285/70/17. Now that I have the 4.11's, i'm pretty sure I could easily run a 305/70/17. Problem is, not sure if 2" lift is enough to run a 305/70/17 without rubbing.

Anyone tried running a 305/70/17 with only 2" of lift? Did it rub?
I think the Off-Road editions are lifted 2" Anyone run a 305/70/17 on an Off-Road edition? Did it rub?

Please, pics if you got 'em.

Using this formula..... HEIGHT = ((width * aspect-ratio * 2) / 2550) + rim size

The 285's are 32.65 inches tall and the 305's are 33.75 inches tall so I doubt that 1inch is going to make that big of a deal. Here is a pic I just snapped of mine with 285/75-16's which should be about 32.76 inches tall, mine is an 01 off road so it should have the 2inch lift, as you can see there is plenty of room in there.

What about when you full turn. How much distance do you have to the control arms?

I have exactly 2 inches to the control arm. The 285's are 11.2 inches wide and the 305's are 12 inches wide so you should have 1.2 inches of free space to work with! WoooHooo!!!!

Hi mxmancr250

Question for you

I have a dodge ram 1500 2000 4x4 and I think this has the offroad lift on it.

I have a 2 inch block on my rear axle but im not sure how the front is lifted.

See its from canada and I dont think they pasted the offroad sticker on it and such.

So my question is if it has the 2 inch lift block in back its got the off road lift on it right?

Is your truck lifted in front by some spacers or does the off road edtion have bigger coils?

thanks

I didn't see anything special in the front of mine but I measured the block under my springs and it is 3 1/2 inches tall. I know my front sits lower than the rear and it is really annoying me so I wan't to get a leveling kit but most of them say not for use with off-road package.

Yup thats what I got, Thanks. I got the suspension lift part of the offroad package just no toehooks or skid plates. thanks for pic that helped hugely... Ill go out and measure to see if its the same size as yours but it looks like the same size. I just guessed on 2 inches. never knew it was 3

I believe the Offroad Edition was only offered on the 2nd Gens in an '01 year model truck. And the front does not have any sort of lift spacers but it does run a proprietary(one of a kind) spring. You can ONLY lift these with the 2" leveling kits, no other manufacturers lifts will work with the '01 Offroad because of its unique spring. And although I haven't put larger tires on mine yet I do know that you can run 305's without the 2" spacers up front but depending on the aggressiveness of the lugs you might experience some rub, you should be able to get away with most A/T treads.

mxmancr250 how is it that you have 16" rims from a regular 4x4 on that rig instead of the Offroad Edition only 17x9's?

Whoever had the truck before me must have sold the 17" wheels or something because he had these swirley 16" wheels that I didn't really care for. I got the wheels and tires off of eBay for $99 + $120 shipping, even though the rims are the older style I like them better than the ones that were on it. I was thinking of possibly getting these rims powder coated black but haven't decided yet. Here is a pic right after I purchased the truck.
