Default Takes forever to start ????

I have a 96 ram 1500 with the 5.2. When you start the truck it takes forever to start and sometimes it like sputters for a second once it starts. The plugs are new and I replace the crank position sensor. Any ideas ?

Do you hear the fuel pump run when you first turn the key on? (before actually trying to start the engine.)

Check fuel pressure as well.

Does it run fine once it starts? Or, are there other performance issues as well?

The shop I took it to said they tested everything the fuel and all was fine, but when the sensor they put on didn't work that said the only other thing it could be was the cam position sensor. What do you guys think and it runs fine once it starts.

Could be the cam sensor and/or timing. I do know the timing is off in my truck, and every so often it won't catch when starting.

I had a similar issue with mine, it took a few seconds of cranking for it to start.. Did they check fuel pressure or fuel volume? My fuel pressure was fine, volume was low, theres a difference.. It also can be the IAC mine went on me once like that..

Idle Air Control motor. The little thing sticking out the back of the throttle body, at the bottom.
