I came across a 5.2L out of a '97 ram for cheap. It only has 152Km and is clean, and was running fine when pulled from the truck a couple months ago.

My motor has almost 300Km on it, is worn, leaks etc, but still runs.

I'd like to put the motor from the '97 in, but will it bolt / plug right in?

I have a '95 with the 5.2L in it, I just wasn't sure if they changed anything in the wiring across these years or not.

 

Should bolt right in. I think EVERYTHING is the same. Check and see if both motors have one, or two temp sensors though...... In the manifold, on either side of the thermostat housing.

 

take the manifold off the 95 and put on the 97,, and the passer side exhass manitfold beacuse 95 has egr vavle

I would think the PCM is different. Am I right?

 

95 is OBD1 and 97 is OBD2

 

Yeah, but, we are only dealing with the engine. PCM shouldn't be an issue, as they are both the same displacement.

 

So are you saying I could do away with the EGR altogether?

 

Use your current PCM, and take your manifold off the old motor, and put it on the new motor.

 

Also compare all the sensors for the same type of connectors. I know for one the MAP sensor is a different style between OBD 1/2. If you find some are different, just toss the old ones on the new motor.
