squeaking when I turn the wheel what could it be?
My wheel bearings are dry I sprayed WD40 in them and the squeaking stopped. I'm going to try and take the wheels off and see how rough of shape the bearings are ok or not. Do I repack them with grease if they seem fine, if so wouldn't high temp. grease be better? Or do I just buy new ones? Thanks for all the help
2wd or 4wd. if you have a 2wd with standard tapered bearings, then you just repack them, or replace/repack them. they're not expensive, maybe $10 or less each.
if you have a 4wd, then you would have the super-expensive non serviceable, sealed bearing. you could try greasing them, but i don't know if you'll have any luck or not.
wd40 is more of a solvent than it is a grease. so if it is wheel bearings, get something else in there fast.

My truck was doing the same thing. I crawled under there and checked. I had a wheel bearing really bad on psngr side, and a ball joint bad on the drivers side.
After replacing the ball joints and wheel bearings, I haven't heard it since. My guess is that one of them was dried out.

4wd bearings are sealed, and include the hub. cost is about $180 each for the good made in the usa brands like timken.
later 2wd used a similar sealed bearing, but it was some cheaper.
i think only the older 2wd used a cheap tapered bearing that was repackable.
a simple way to test your wheel bearings is to grab the top of the tire with both hands and shake it back and forth as hard as you can. if the wheel moves in/out and had play in it, then something is worn out - but it could be a wheel bearing or ball joint and you have to look a little deeper to find out which.
its rare for a wheel bearing to go dry and squeak. they usually wear out and roar.
i doubt your problem is a bearing.
