Default Front Axle....

I know the front axle on the 1500 Ram's are a Dana 44.

Can everything from the steering knuckles out from a F-150 Dana 44 be put on the stock Dodge Dana 44 so you can have the manual lockouts instead of the factory Dodge vacuum engagement?

Others have turned ours into manual lockouts before, I'd wait for them to chime in if possible.

i don't know, but i think a posil-lok cable is the best thing ever. its completely manual. its almost foolproof (except when you melt it on the exhaust manifold ), you can leave it disengaged for 2wd low and last but not least - you can engage it from the comfort of the drivers seat and not have to get out in the mud. or the 99* heat like we had today.

i spent about 4 hours today in 2wd low easing around some rough *** dirt roads and only engaged 4wd on one hill where i was spinning in the dry loose dust.

I have looked at the posi lock cable. I really perfer the manual lockouts on the axle.

The reason I ask is because I have a Ford Dana 44 axle with everything needed to swap them over.

Pull apart the ford axle, dissasemble one side of the axle on the truck, compare the parts. (spindle mounting holes, stub axle length, u-joint size....) and see if it will fit.

Duh....

I figured I would ask if someone has done this before tearing into it.
