Default 5.9 Automatic Transmission Temp Gauge Port

I am going to put a transmission temp gauge on my truck.

I had a Ranger in the past and there was a pressure port that was the perfect size for a transmission temp gauge.

I was wondering if the 5.9 automatic had something similar. I know I can always put it in one of the cooling lines with a T fitting if I have too.

Yes there is, It is the servo port right next to where the dip stick tube enters the tranny.

Do you by chance have a picture of it?

Is it the correct size or does it have to be reduced?

It is the correct size if you go with an Autometer gauge, I personally don't have a pic of it, I know there is a pic of it floating around on the forum somewhere. I'll try and search for it, if not, I will get under the truck tomorrow and snap a pic for you.

Thanks I appreciate it in advance.

I plan on going with an Autometer gauge and settering column mount.

Not a problem, that is exactly what I did.

This pic doesn't show where the port is in relation to the whole tranny, but it gives you an idea for now. It is on the passenger side, on the front right corner near the Cat.

And here is a pic of my setup, it will give you an idea of what yours is going to look like.

What series gauge do you have?

Z Series. It's kind of plain jane and sometimes I wish I would have gotten the Silver frame and white face (forget which series that is) but the Z series blends in nicely with the factory gauge cluster.

I want mine to blend in well and sorta look factory.

Thanks for your help. I look forward to the picture tomorrow of the plug in the trans.

Front servo port is the one you want to use. I have posted a lot on this topic, do a search and you will see the pros and cons of doing it this way.
