I recently acquired a 96 1500 with the 5.9 V8 engine that has a questionable life. It appears that it may of been in a fire do to the hidden damage and what appears newer than the rest. Right now the thing i need to replace is the oil dipstick. The one that is in there is a black T handle that is almost impossible to put back in. I am trying to figure out what the correct one is. If anyone has this model and could let me know how long it is that would be a great start. Thanks
OK on my 5.2 I didnt come with a dipstick and when I got it from the dealer I sware the thing was nearly 3 feet long. It did take some effort to put it in and yours may be the same.
It seems like more than a little effort. Could you verify length on yours when you get a chance? Also, what type of handle is on yours? Mine is a black T style. Thanks
I recently had to measure mine for another member here, hold on I'll find it for ya

edit: mine's 34 7/8" from the tip to where the handle meets the stick, 36" if you count the part of the handle past the O rings, right to where it hits the dipstick tube
