Default electrical issues

hey guys, i have a new issue. i was driving my truck today and heard this squealing noise, kinda like a belt. so i popped into neutral and revved the engine a couple times. the squealing stopped, but the check gauge light came on and the amp meter went to -18. i had the codes checked at the dealer and it threw a low voltage code. ive had the alternator checked and its good, but it had a lifetime warranty so i went ahead and got a new one just to be safe. any ideas as to what could be wrong THIS TIME? thanks in advance.

You might check/change the belt. It might be slipping over the alt pulley. Even if it is that should have made it pop a GEN light instead of the check engine. Also check grounds and for giggles, check the battery.

just installed the new alternator. i noticed when i took the old one off that the tensioner didnt feel exactly right, but when i put the new alt on i really noticed it. the tensioner is deff. bad. on another note. i picked up a new neutral safety switch today at the dealer. i put it on right after installing the alt. and my reverse lights STILL are not working!! ugh! there was not a cup washer on the dealer switch like there was with the part store brand. is this a big issue? do i need to take it back out and put the washer on? any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Did you make sure that the reverse bulbs aren't burnt out?
