Default 2001 dodge 1500 shifting problem. help!

hi i just bought a 2001 dodge ram 1500=] the guy told me when you stop you have to put it in park or it wont shift out of second when you strat to go again. i was curious if anyone had an idea of what it could be. oh it has a 99 motor and tranny in it. please help

Im just curious, but why did you buy it? That has problems written all over it... I think it was mistake to buy that in my opinion but atleast its a Dodge!!

because its not a big deal to throw it in park when i stop.. but yeah i love dodge=] any way i found a new way to do it just click the key off and then back on so im guessing its something with the brain needing to be reset? any ideas?

wrong year transmission in there..probly has a slight difference in wiring confusing the pcm sending it into limp mode

okay so do i need to change the tranny or just the ecu?

or you could ask montec what the differences are and go from there it could be a few sensors need to be changed...
