Default Trans Help...

just bought a 98 dodge ram 2wheel .... 130k .... guy said trans replaced at 90...anyways.... drives smooth ..... shifts really smooth.... but truck is making this rattle noise that seems to be coming from the trans.... when you have in idle or reverse it gets louder... tried to record but noise of engine washes it out... like i said it runs perfect but it makes a horrible rattle noise that sometime goes away but most of the time is there....

Pull the inspection cover off of the bellhousing, and check the flex plate, see if it is cracked.

And welcome to DF!

Just remove the starter, and then there is like 5 or so 1/2" or 9/16" bolts holding the inspection cover on.

The flexplate bolts that hold the torque converter on could also be looseing.
