Rear pinion seal
Yet another one of these threads. Where my drive shaft goes into my rear is all oil stained. I am trying to get some info about my rear i was told i need the numbers off of it to get parts for it. the numbers 520894319050 are on the top of the rear does that sound right? the genius's at chrysler decided to stamp it on the top of the rear so us guys with dual exhausts can get out heads up there. i had to get a can of spray paint and paint it then put some paper on there to stamp the numbers on.....yeah i know im slick. ( I did try it with white spray paint first though : P just kidding.
what do i need to replace the seal i am having a kid i know do it is there a diy i can look at to get an idea. he works on trucks so i guess he knows what he is doing. he did a cummins a few months ago are they the same?

the right seal depends on which axle you have. all 1500's have 9.25, and 2500/3500 have a dana 60 or 70 or 80. each probably requires a different seal. you can get a good National or SKF from Advance or Napa. do NOT NOT NOT use a cheap **** timken seal or it'll leak and have to be redone.
all you need is a new seal, 1/4 inch beam-style inch-pound torque wrench, punch and hammer to mark the nut, impact wrench. i don't know of a diy with pictures on here, but there are some out on the internet, especially in the jeep forums.
