i have a 1996 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.2 the thing i cant figur out is why my fuse box is cliking and making odd noises its coming from the auto shut down relay and the fule pump relay i have looked all over the place and cant find a short

When are your rlelays making odd noises? And does your truck start/run/drive ok?

 

The relay clicks when it is activated, if it is clicking when it is running then the first thing you should do is replace that relay. Take your fog light relays (I believe you have two) and swap them for those two relays and see if they still click. The fog light relays should be identical to the ASD and fuel system relays, I know they are on my 2000 model. If they do click then you have bigger problems (a short somewhere), if they don't then you need to buy a couple relays.

I've had my ASD relay go out before and the truck barely runs when it was bad. You have to feather the gas for a few minutes just to keep it running when that relay is on its way out.
