Default Steering gearbox 95 ram 1500

My steering box is leaking where it connects to the pitman arm. Does anyone know if it is possible just to replace the seal and if so is it a DIY project. I'm planning on lifting my truck in the near future, so if I end up replacing it - IS this the time for a upgrade and of course money is always a factor. Is possible to us a 2500 box , I'm assuming it would be of a heavy duty verison-not sure. Any thoughts?

The seal is relatively easy to replace. Separate the pitman arm from the shaft, four bolts to remove the top cover, center the steering, and the shaft just pushes out from the top. Do what ya gotta to get the old seal out, make sure the surface it rides on on the shaft is nice and clean and smooth, press in the new seal, reassemble.

Refill the powersteering pump, and with the front end lifted off the ground a bit, crank the steering back and forth. (engine running) Top off fluid again. Wait for the air to come out of it. (engine off, it IS going to be foamy in the pump.) do it again. When all the air is out, top of fluid to correct level, and you are done.
