Howdy folks. new to this site and looks like a wealth of info!

Issue: engine turns over, will not start.

bought used, originally had auto tranny, now has a 5 speed. check eng. lite was always on due to this I figured. Ran fine. Replaced slave cylinder and test drove ok. parked it for the night. next day fail to start. disconnected battery for the day,got home and it started. test drove ok. shut it off and fail to start again. still dead .

Check engine light now staying off, occasionally came on....dim. tach sometimes bounces around with key on and engine not running. ASD and Fuel pump relays work. I verified this by checking voltages and manually triggering the coil with a high impedance test light. fuel pump works (audibly). Coil tests OK on both primary and secondary (1.02 ohms and 12300 respectively) GR/OR wire to coil OK and showing 12vdc when asd relay actuated.

One additional bit of info, if it matters....Initially when I pulled the fuel pump fuse the A/C clutch would disengage??? Also the check engine light does not come on at any time now. Code scanner shows "fail" also. verified scanner operation OK on another vehicle. checked molex in truck, appears OK.

I am well versed in electrical sytems, just not familiar with operations of these newer vehicles. I am a carb and points kind of guy!

Need to find out what you are losing with the no start. Spark, or fuel. Got a noid light?

The ECM not wanting to talk to your scanner is NOT a good sign......

I have neither spark or fuel delivery. I am assuming its due to the asd relay not being energized by the ECM. If I read somewhere correctly, the asd relay is energized upon the ignition being turned on, then after 3 seconds the ECM shuts it down for whatever reason if the truck is not started.

And I am not familiar with a "noid" light....pardon me please if I am not up to date on some of the current test equipment. I am very capable of using a DMM or test light however!
