I have a 1996 dodge ram 4x4 1500. I am about to replace a wheel hub assembly on the front of the truck (passenger side) How can I tell if I need abs sensor....I didn't notice any sensors around the wheel, but I have an abs light in the dash can I find out by calling the dealership and giving them my vin? Or is there some obvious way that I just passed up.
If there are no speed sensor wires on the front hubs, you just have rear wheel abs. 4wal will have a fair sized motor/controller under the hood, rwal just has what looks like a proportioning valve with a couple solenoids on it.

+1 The ABS system will be contained in the engine bay on the rear driverside by the hood hinge. If it's empty there, then you don't have 4 wheel ABS. If you have something there, then you, more likely then not, have 4 wheel ABS.
count the number of hoses and wires going to your front steering knuckles. 1 is the brake hose. if you have a second wire/hose thing, then you have front abs.
