Default 2001 1500 Sport 4x4 tires question

i am looking for used tires for my 2001 Ram 1500 4x4. (chicago/milwaukee area).
right now the truck has 265/75/16r tires. are these the biggest tires that will fit this truck (no lift)? i cant seem to find an exact answer anywhere, so im hoping to get a definite answer here on this question. thank you in advance!

You can go with 285's, and they might rub a bit at the back, on the plastic inner fender liner. (hit it with a heat gun, and reform it.) Also, might rub the rearward portion of the front bumper. (loosen the bumper bolts, and adjust it forward as far as you can get it to go.) Another spot is the control arms, but, only when at full lock. (don't turn it that far.)

Some folks run the 285's with no rubbing at all. Just a matter of luck of the draw.

Welcome to DF!

thank you all for the awesome advice!! i am on the hunt for some decent tires. i think that i want to try out some 285s and beef it up a little. im not really looking for rims at this time, but i did find a set of tire/rims that are 17s instead of the 16s i have on it now. i did some research and it looks like my bolt pattern is 5-139.. if i put 17s or even 18s... will i have problems? (still going with a 275 or 285 tire).. i apologize for my ignorrance of tires, im trying to research this but keep going in circles (no pun).. any more help would be appreciated! (I need tires, and I just want to put the truck up as high as I can without a lift)

I've got 285's on my truck and I don't have any rubbing, then again, it DOES have aftermarket wheels. They also stick out a bit.....

...and look AWESOME with it too!
