A little Help with a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500
Hi guys,
My Dad has a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. He heard someone say he could do something with the throttle body to get better gas mileage. Would anyone know anything about it. It's a 3.9L V6.
I would really appreciate it if someone could help. I am actually trying to buy this truck from him. Thanks!
Oh and someome told him he could try changing the jets or the feeders and that if he put a throttle body on from a Cadillac. Does this sound a bit crazy?

It sounds a bit crazy,
There's not anything I can think of that you can do to a TB to increase mileage, only increase power, which costs more gas. Perhaps if you can keep your foot out of it, but that never happens when you've got more power
Never heard of any Cadillac to Dodge part swaps in my 3 years on this forum.

Its a truck. Gas mileage is never going to be that good. 
For a bit of a boost, do a full tune up.
No parts from a caddy will swap to the dodge. There are no jets. Throttle body regulates air flow, that's it.

Theoretically, yes.
Realistically, No.
It comes down to weight. Trucks weigh a lot. Put a weak engine in it and it will have to work harder to pull the same weight. Put a stronger engine in it, and it won't work as hard to pull the weight.
The V6 and the 5.2 get about the same MPG's. My 2wd with the 318 is getting about 19 mpgs. It's a 2WD, regular cab, long bed, with itty bitty 225/75/15 tires on it. Amazing gas mileage out it, and I'm thinking it has a lot to do with the tires being so small.
