Default 01 5.2l starting issues

Sorry posted in 1st gen fourm!
hi, truck started getting misfire codes and runnuing like general crap.
changed cap/rotor/wires. fired right up. ran ok for about 5 min then started missing again, stalled and when i tried to restart would barely turn over. took battery to shop (5 years old) and it really wasnt all that good, so replaced with a new 800 cca fully charged. put in the battery and WTF it still barely wants to crank so i assumed the starter was toast replaced that and no go. i made shure all electrical connections were clean and tight. im not sure where to look next. any pointers greatly appreciated.
thanks, pete

Did you change the plugs as well? Getting any codes? Try swapping the starter relay with another one. I think they are all pretty much the same. See if that helps with the cranking problem.

Yeah its has new plugs and i tried a new relay, its better but still wont run. used a little starting fluid and got it to fire and run but keeps dying. i wonder if the gas has phase seperated? my bike did this twice this year and this wouldnt surprise me. we use that wonderful e-10 up in the northeast.
Thanks for the tip. pete

Get a fuel pressure tester (should be around 49) And make sure the battery is fully charged. Does it stay running if you keep your foot on the throttle? if it does then the PCM may be just resetting itself. Try also removing the pre cat 02 sensor and see if there is any change. And if it runs for 5 minutes or so and then stalls, the crank position sensor could be bad.
