Default RPM gauge wrong...

I just installed a sunpro super tach II in my 96 Ram, and the gauge is registering, but not reading the correct rpm's. At WOT it wont read above about 3k rpm's. The engine is the 3.9L with a 5 speed. Maybe I'm getting interference somewhere??

It seems to be reading fine at idle, but when I get into higher rpm's it dosen't seem right.

To shed a little more light on this, I have the black wire grounded to the negative battery terminal, the green wire connected to the black and white wire on the distributor coil connector via no splice connector, and the two leads (white{dimmer} and red) wired to the fusebox.

Anybody got any info on this? I'm pretty sure my truck dosen't redline at 2500 rpm lol - Maybe the gauge itself is bad?

You have to look on the inside of the cup. It should say 1 - 10 with a selector switch.

See the little black switch on the bottom right hand pic
