Default why are y'all so down on WD-40?

i've been using that stuff for years, and i've never run into a bolt/axle nut i can't get undone. i've broken wratchets, sockets, bolts, you name it, but WD has always worked for me. i swear by it. its plentiful and cheap, and works good enough for what the average joe needs.

i look at my WD-40 like duct tape; it never leaves my truck as it has so many cool uses. does PB blaster? or <insert rust penetrant here>

now, maybe i'm just like, super strong so i dont' need to knock bolts loose with rust penetrant, but i think you guys are rather harsh towards a tried and true product like WD-40..........

or maybe its just funny to watch people trash it so often and then pimp a product i can't even buy in Canada......... might be great; sorry, i'm not gonna goto the trouble of importing it when my trusty WD is sitting right there.

my apologies for the pewpstorm that i've probably started....

Hey look Wd-40 also cures Arthritus
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...icle264652.ece

WD-40 was meant to displease water not rust

I will stick by PB blaster... it has worked magic on many a bolts.

We use salt on our roads here in Calgary. so rusted bolts are a major problem even on the simplest repair. PB blast has never let me down (only bolt I had trouble with while using PB blast was my axle nut).

Johnny is about the size of a average Line Backer in the NFL... I'm sure he could spray water on a bolt and then uses his bear hands and it would come loose.

BTW Johnny... How did the WD-40 work on your front drive shaft bolts... Didn't you have to buy a new yok?

Sorry had to say it

WD-40 is good for a quick lube on a pulley or a hinge (quick because it dries and starts squeaking again before too long), on rubber worms when fishing and a few other uses but it isn't a good penetrant because it is a lubricant, not a penetrant.

You wouldn't have broken those ratchets, sockets or bolts if you had used a good penetrating fluid.

PB blaster is a lube just like WD-40 for what its worth.

really? that statement right there made my day.
maybe they should be selling good penetrating lube with wratchet sets then and forget about warranties

so you're saying if i use a good penetrant i won't need to put that 4ft breaker bar on the axle nut to pop it loose? cause last time i checked, 4 ft breaker bars have a tendency to break stuff...............

Calgary man, NFL linebacks WISH they had shoulders like mine..........

The "WD" in there is "water displacing". That is its major purpose. I have used WD-40, and PB-Blaster. I like the PB MUCH Better. Haven't tried the other products plugged here.

truth be told, the best thing i've found for siezed bolts is.................... heat, and lots of it......

or maybe i just like burning things

if the bolts big enough, then brute strength should knock it loose and it its smaller, get it so hot its red
