Default quiet exhaust - suggestions needed

Trying to do the opposite of most guys here, I want the truck to be quiet. From what I can tell crawling under the truck, at some time, somebody removed the stock muffler and did a new exhaust back (looks like the stock cat is still on it, but not positive)

I didn't measure, but what size stock exhaust comes out of the cat? 2.5"? From there it goes to what looks like a 3" inlet muffler, and goes out into dual 2.5" (guessing without measuring). It does have a nice rumble, but not what I want. Its not obnoxiously loud, but too loud for me. I'd like to get it down to next to nothing - well as much as possibly anyway.

Any recommendations? Oh yea, cheaper is better.

Hit the wrecking yard and pull the cleanest stock exhaust you can find. That'd be the cheapest way to go, with the surest fit.

Do this,

Find someone with a stock exhaust that WANTS a loud exhaust. Tell him you will give it to him for free. He just has to pay for the exhaust shop to do the swap.

He will pay a couple hundred in labor and you get what you want for free!!!

+1 That would be the cheapest and easiest route. But you have to find a guy that has your truck with stock exhaust and willing to exchange...that might be hard.

Your best bet may be what unregistereduser said, just go to the salvage yard and pull a nice clean stock setup, you also put the quietest muffler on that flowmaster has to offer and you won't lose power, and will quiet it down....

sounds ggod an exhaust shop should be able to get a stock style muffler in a si/do so all you have to change is the muffler

+1 on this. Just take it to Meineke and get OEM muffler. They have the single in dual outs. Did it to mine a couple of years ago and it was quiet, too quiet. I had a Dynomax turbo cut in a couple of weeks ago to get a better sound.
