Default 1995 Dodge ram 1500 5.2L needs more power.

I just recently purchased a 1995 dodg ram 1500 regular cab long box with a 5.2l under the hood. I have had a couple of 5.2l before but they where in the dakota. I purchased the truck with newly installed headers, intake and throttle body spacer but she still seems kind of doggy. I would like to know what would be the best way to go to get a decent power increase and higher shift points ( it is an automatic ). The truck has on 97,000 on it and I am willing to spend the money to get the power.

Also the truck wants to bog out while driving down the road sometimes, I have googled the problem and seen that there is a history of reports listing the same problem on the 5.2L but know deffinite fix. Any input would be awesome.

Thanks All

you could get a mopar performance PCM or a B&G flash on your PCM. As for the shift points the 95's transmission is hydraulic controlled so i dont know how you could change those... As for the bog these trucks shift into overdrive early so if you dont have overdrive turned off while driving in the city you may want to try that.

before you even start the performance mods you should verify the thing is working right. It's pretty common that with 100K there is stuff wrong with it that could actually boost performance significantly just by fixing them. For example plenum gasket...

Is that common for the issue for a 5.2L?
