Nah its all good I'm installing my 37" LG LCD in the camper and hiding the xbox somewhere. I was told I have to quit smoking cigs before the trip which I'm not looking forward to. If worse comes to worse I'll quit the day we leave and then she'll have to deal with my withdraw.

Here are some quick measurements. Not much but they are good enough for me right now. I found a great place to get diamond plate.

Here is the main site that shows the styles and varieties.

I started to fab out the console with cardboard tonight. If everything works out I will be running to Homedepot tomorrow to pick up a sheet of 1/2 inch MDF. I went to Lowes but all they carry is 3/4". I will post some pics of the cardboard and hopefully the beginning of the finished product.

Sorry for the delay. I have been procrastinating for no good reason. Here's a little update.

The center jump-seat without the foam padding.

Cardboard mock-up of the sides

The inside space.(Note: I did remove the two 12v power outlets as they got in the way)

Cardboard form

The first MDF fitting. A bunch of tweaks to get it to fit just right. I still have a couple more to do on the passenger side to get everything to match up right.

MDF form before and after

and the reverse

I'm going to work on it a tiny bit more today and will post more photos later on. I'll try to show the steps I used to do it.

So I did a little more work. Well I sent around 8 hours last night working on this.

Here are the two MDF sides wrapped in vinyl and I built a second storage box out of hardwood flooring.

Better look at the new wood box.

The mess that I have to manage behind the console. I also installed a new head unit. Which I have to say handles sound 100X better then the stock unit. It also has built in HD radio, rear J-Bus so I can hook AUX stuff through the back.

In the above photo right below the head unit I am putting this piece with the RAM lettering.

Clamping it down. If you are going to do this get more clamps. I also used the foam off of a laminate pressure roller I had laying around. They are like $5 from Home Depot.

And the after of the letters wrapped and pressed.

More to come tonight...

It's taking forever because I have to build it in the truck. I have to keep getting in and out of the truck. I should get pretty far tonight though because for the most part the hard stuff is done.

I found some dark red vinyl that matches the exterior paint almost perfect. I started the laptop mount today and a couple other little things. The project was delayed because I picked up the trailer today and brought it to our house.

Smile Finished

Well I finished the center console tonight. I don't have any photos of all the in-between progress but here are some of the finished product.

I had a 80W inverter laying around so I used that to power the Laptop with the other cig lighter. Installed a 400W inverter on the side. Mounted the CB. So much going on here I don't know where to start so just have a look and enjoy.

400 Watt power inverter.

Relocated 20 amp power outlet.
