Tips on wiring gauges?

Tips on wiring gauges?
Alright, i have an AF gauge and a tranny temp gauge. I can read the directions and they make it sound so easy.
Here is some info I want to know before I delve in:
1. Where are all the wires located that I need to splice into?
a. Ignition wire
b. dimmer switch wires
c. Where to splice in for 12V power
2. How did you guys fuse the wires?
The last time i did a dual gauge pod was in my old IROC. I did it really fast and the wires were not hidden. So it looked ghetto.
I just want this to look clean. Any tips would be much appreciated.
