I appreciate the mods and administrators for cleaning up this thread.
However I also believe it's not in the the forums best interest to support any individual who wants to make thier street vehicle louder than any law, ordinance, or normal common sense should entail.
People like that only serve to make the jobs of SEMA and other sanctioning and aftermarket support efforts more difficult. Much like gun laws which punish the law abiding owners...sorry, I didn't mean to wax political.
I support open exhaust systems at any sanctioned and controled racing or other off road event. Even in the back 40 if your neighbors are cool.

It's all relative. Pushing for noise control out in the sticks way out of city limits in the county where it's quiet makes sense to me. In my neighborhood, under the flight path of a major international airport, it almost doesn't make sense to complain about a semi loud vehicle that isn't even close to being heard over a Boeing 747 which is gunning it for the clouds. Especially considering the local proliferation of the loud Harley dudes...no one better even think of pulling me over until I see a thinning of the heard of these bikers who who all seem to buy and install the loudest drag pipes they can find.

Of course living here in the land of noise I've stepped up accordingly and had our house modified such that you can barely even hear the loud jets on takeoff or loud road traffic when you are inside with the doors/windows closed. Better get your earplugs for going outside though.

If you want loud...as in you can hear it for miles away, then run duals out the back with no cat or muffler...or get a short glasspack. If you want loud when you rev it (next to you) then get a cutout and/or run the exhaust and dump it before the rear end. I have tried SEVERAL different ways/exhausts and I go from experience

heres what id do;

All out: long tube header with 3" straight pipe with as few bends as possible (one going out at a 45* on each side)

Toned: headers of choice, hi-flow cat, glass pack (have it clamped in as they tend to blow out in a couple months and just become expantion chambers and kinda sound like crap)

Rapping: there's two ways of going about this one,
1.) 2.25" true duals (will rap literally all the time)
2.) Shorty headers, 2.25" head pipes, 2.25" D/I 3" S/O hi flow cat, 3" straight back

Option 2.) for rapping is whats done to my truck, comes in around 2,200 RPM rapping and around 3,800 RPM it kinda cleans up and sounds realllllyyyyyy goood lol
Say a guy puts a Hi-Flow Cat on and runs a Y with 2.50'' pipe straight straight back to wherever he has the tips come out? I would imagine that would be pretty raspy, but sound pretty good as well. I've always had 2.50'' on my truck, I'm sorry but I can't stand it when guys put 2'' or 2.25'' exhaust pipes on. Especially if they are doing true dual straight pipes or a hi flow with straight pipes.

Your setup sounds pretty intense though.

Pretty much like the vids in post 11 notanexit7 posted up. Mine is 3" I/O hiflo cat with 3" catback and no muffler and sounds about identical to the vid. I don't think dueling it off w/ a crossover will sound much different than single pipe ther than make the sound go out in tow places rather than one. True duals would likely sound different but most recomend against that since it is slightly less efficient as compared to running a crossover.

I'm not talking about noise laws or anything. I don't care how loud your car/truck is, just make it sound good, any tool can make exhaust loud..

My truck is pretty loud, but it sounds good, the Aero Turbine 3030 I used to run cost $125 and was worth every penny because it sounded awesome.

My current exhaust consists of just a single 3" cat and a turbo. It sounds like crap in the low RPMs because the exhaust is only 18" after the turbo, if I had room to run longer exhaust I would because it would smooth it out, exhaust is about the same volume as the muffler I used to run which is a touch louder than a 40 series but without the drone.

I thought it seemed a little strange for a V8 Dodge guy to not like them loud and I see I misread your post. You don't have a soundclip of that thing do you?
