Default Wanted:Overdrive tips or tricks

Hey everyone....So I have been driving my 1995 Ram around some and she is doing really great overall......except for a few things that I was wondering if anyone might has any tips or tricks for before I just pull the tranny. She won't go into overdrive for me. It will shift through the gears really well overall except for the overdrive, and after it has went through all of the shifting that it will do if I stop at a light and then take off again it doesn't shift back down into first, it will just take off in 3rd I guess is the gear it's in. I was wondering if any of y'all might have a tip or trick to try before I yank the tranny and have it rebuilt. Any suggestions are welcome so that I can at least give it a try and apply that money to other things on the truck. I was advised that the overdrive was just burned out and the only fix was to just pull it. Also in case anyone is interested, I have a full set of 16" stock chrome dodge rims that the guy gave to me with the truck, they have fairly good tires on them as well, I like the stock dodge aluminum rims that are on it now and that is what I was going to keep on it. I'd be willing to trade out for some stuff that I need if anyone is up for that. I really don't care if you get the best end of the deal for the trade, as long as I get something that I need for my truck. Thanks for reading.

It sounds like shift solenoids and/or governor pressure sensor to me.
