How old is your water pump? Would be a good time to change.

probably. but i am gonna try and run it all with my superchip 3815 first and see what happens.

water pump is the original one that came on the truck. 65k

pretty sure i am gonna pull the engine out anyway. wanting to paint the block. plus i am still debating on the torque conv. if i get it too, i will be pulling it for sure. it will just make everything easier to work on also.

Replace it. You are going to have it off anyway. No better time than the present.

Having the engine on a stand for this manner of mod is definitely going to make your life easier....... Beats crawling in/out of the engine bay with things like cylinder heads in your hands.

I'd replace all the freeze plugs with brass if you got it out of the truck.

DING DING DING DING!!!!! We HAVE a Winnah!!!

Do this. This is one of those little detail things that folks just never even think about. Given that the steel factory plugs love to rust out and leak, ESPECIALLY the one behind the flippin' engine mount...... fix it while it is easy.

I just had the 'pleasure' of doing this on my truck. Such fun.
