I had a bad bearing when I pulled my cam, I think due to some FOD that got in between the bearing and the jounal. Wasn't that bad of a change. The only one you really have to pray about is the last one in the back, gotta pull the engine to get that one out.
pretty sure i am gonna pull the engine out anyway. wanting to paint the block. plus i am still debating on the torque conv. if i get it too, i will be pulling it for sure. it will just make everything easier to work on also.
water pump is the original one that came on the truck. 65k
Replace it. You are going to have it off anyway. No better time than the present.

Having the engine on a stand for this manner of mod is definitely going to make your life easier....... Beats crawling in/out of the engine bay with things like cylinder heads in your hands.
Good Luck! Look forward to seeing how it turns out, and am very interested in your results, and what stall converter you go with. Keep us informed!
I'd replace all the freeze plugs with brass if you got it out of the truck.
DING DING DING DING!!!!! We HAVE a Winnah!!!
Do this. This is one of those little detail things that folks just never even think about. Given that the steel factory plugs love to rust out and leak, ESPECIALLY the one behind the flippin' engine mount...... fix it while it is easy.
I just had the 'pleasure' of doing this on my truck. Such fun.
