Default How to remove rear brake drum. Help Please!

I am trying to remove my rear brake drum to replace a wheel stud but I cant get it off. Ive used plenty of WD40 because I dont have my pbblaster. Ive beat the s*** out of it with a hammer and it still wont budge. Is there any special tool I need or method.

Does it move at all, or is it still seized on the axle shaft?

If it isn't moving, you need to take a BFH and hit it on the face of the drum between the lugs, alternating around the drum. Beating the drum from behind isn't doing you any favors.

If it's moving a little, it's hung up on the shoes. You can remove the adjuster plug on the backing plate and use a screw driver to spin the star adjuster to loosen the shoes.

Did you get the drum off, or just the self adjuster?

Another method would be to jack the truck up, take the wheel off, spin one lug nut back onto a stud about half way down, start up the truck, put it in drive, let spin a little bit, and then jab the brakes and see what happens.

I did get the drum off and just put the new 22's on it. Getting the new stud into place was a PITA, I had to use another large nut and a metal brace. I had to tighten the wheel nut till it pulled it into place.
