shifting funny...

Question shifting funny...

so my 1997 ram has a rebuilt transmission with only around 10k on it... BUT... when im cruising and want to pass someone, no kick down... and it seems the shift points arent right... could this be the shifting solenoid or sensor or whatever?

it could be or it could be the cable hookedto your throttle body isn't set right for the shift points.

Mine doesnt seem to shift right either, it shifts way to early. I just manually take it out of overdrive when i'm accelerating, really wish it would work correctly by itself though.

Search the forums for tv cable adjustment. That might be your issue. Does it rev high before it shifts?

a tranny shop will properly set up your tv cable for you for like 25 bucks, take it to one and have them do it.

Depends on where you live. Around me I've had it estimated at $100 and higher. Just look at this guide.

same problem i have, noticed there was way too much trans fluid and drained the extra, improved alot but not all the way...

sometimes it will seem to hit neutral for a second then the next gear...

That what mine does. RPM's get to about 3k.3.5k and stalls then shifts. Or if I let off the gas it'll shift. It happens more when driving in the city than interstate.
