Default Another Motor Update...

I've had some time to put some miles on the motor since the head swap and intake manifold mod and have come to some conclusions... The heads are great, other than the 1 problem I had getting the exhaust bolts sealed, they work great. I'm not sure which part did what but currently my motor runs sooo smooth I often wonder what the hell is wrong... jk on the recent upgrade, 4 things were done, new R/T heads, Crower 1.7 RR's, new timing chain and I modded the intake by cutting down the runners 1.5" and cleaning up the injector ports and the throttle body opening (I have posted some pics already but if anyone wants to see them again I can always post them again). At the upper rpm's the motor breaths really well and has no problem developing some nice HP up there. the down side is the low end torque has dropped too much for my liking so I'm going to mod another intake but this time only cut .75" off the runners. I'm going to try to find the balance between low end torque and upper end HP that will make me happy with it so there will be more to come...

MPG update would be, normal hiway driving 13.5 mpg... doing the speed limit (70 mph) 14.85 mpg.

Anyone with a 2x4 or 4x4 SB single cab would benifit from the 1.5" runner cut on a 360... these trucks would be light enough for the 1.5" runner cut on the intake to be a good mod. my opinion anyway...

Wow, I thought I was being extreme with my pickup by changing the TB, muffler, CAI, and a few other simple mods. Seems kinda lame now compared to the mods you do. Good to see someone has the grapes to try some more intense modifications. It also helps the rest of us because we get to see exactly how far a Ram can be modified. Gets everyone thinking about the possibilities.[sm=smiley20.gif] Who knows, in a year, everybody might be doing what you did Steve, like the way people are getting into bored TB's now. Thanks for laying the ground work, and keep keeping us posted.

thanks, the next thing you should do is change your timing chain. it's not hard, it's just time consuming.

The biggest thing in all the mods is how smooth the motor runs. It is REALLY smooth compared to the way it ran before...
