Default Tailgate trouble

Ok, to make a long story short, I was pulling an old jeep with a homemade car hauler (bad idea) and through a serious of mistakes, the car hauler came off the ball and straight into the tailgate of my truck.. So my question is does anybody know where to get a good used tailgate. Preferably in black for a 2001 dodge ram sport. Any input is greatly appreciated!! Thankyou!

try craig's list or your local auto wrecker, a body shop will probably charge you a hundred or so to give it a paint match to your truck.

You can find them cheaper on ebay then that. I've found them for like 100. Yes it's only in black primer but they give you the option of having it painted for 100-150. All depends how nice you want it and what you wanna pay

Meaning if he don't need it painted right away it would be cheaper. maybe he could find someone to do it for less

As other people mention, try craigslist but then watch out for the people who want to make a fortune on a tailgate. They think its made out of gold. Your best bet is try a junkyard, you never know what you are going to find either.

Thanks for all the input everybody! Preferably I would like to get one from a junk yard but its surprisingly hard to find a tailgate like mine in my local area. It doesnt have to be a new tailgate, preferably not new. But thanks again everybody!
