Default front shock install

I have a 2000 ram 1500 5.9 2wd drive Just had the front shocks replaced and it looks like the bolt on the d/s lower shock is a bit small causing a rattle noise. I was wondering if the truck has to be in the air to remove the shock and change the bolt or can I do it on the ground??? Any help would be much appreciated

Shocks do not support any of the weight of the truck, so if you can reach it on the ground you can do it that way. But lifting it might make it easier to get to everything.

if the lower bolts are not torque correctly, they will rattle. its a common problem.
torque to about 105#, which is very very tight.

+1. The manual calls for 100 lbs, I did mine to about 110, if memory serves.

It's easier to get at the shocks if you pop the tires off and let the spindles hang.
