With youth comes intelligence, with age comes wisdom. Intelligence must be stored in the brain, because the older I get, the harder it is to remember crap. Wisdom must be stored in your *********, because they hang to your knees by the time your 70.

FYI, about 30 seconds after stopping the truck the rotors will be in the neighborhood of 300º, and down to about 250º after a minute. That's what my heat gun told be about mine a while back.
Quick question -- Anyone know the shelf life of DOT 3? I've made it a point to keep some handy but was told it goes bad after a while. Just need to know if I should pitch what I have.
DOT 3 will absorb water right out of the atmosphere. Supposedly, an open container has a shelf life of about a year....... Supposedly.....
Now, if it has been sealed tight. (cap on good), I don't think it is an issue. I have used brake fluid more than a year old, and never had an issue...... but, getting new is cheap insurance.
I know you can't always go by the bottle but if you read a bottle of fluid it tells you once it's open throw it away lol. I seen that once and thought you people are crazy it can't go bad that fast
Put the cap on good and store it upside down. There will be a minimal amount of air in the container.
Ahhh, great answer. Looks like I'll dispose of what I've had sitting open. When I go through the truck's brakes in the near future, I'm going to upgrade to DOT 4.
This can be done with a lot of things. Like cans of paint for instance. Nothing worse than opening up a gallon can of paint and seeing an inch of skin.
