locktite does not go on the main bearing bolts.
a special anaerobic sealer made by loctite goes on the flange face.

from an old post.
Q Is the new rear main lubricated to slide in place, or does it install dry?
A i lubed mine with oil so it would slide in easy and to avoid a dry start. then i used brake cleaner to clean any excess oil from the flange face where the sealants are applied

Q Anaerobic sealer is dabbed on each end of the rear main and then the cap is reinstalled?
A correct. one drop on each side of the crank, right on the machined flange, between the notch on the outside and the seal groove on the inside. its job is to seal the microscopic space between the cap and block, but not add bulk or interfere with bearing torque.

Q RTV goes where?
A a dab in each notch on the outside edge. i never understood what this was for. maybe the oil pan?

see pages 9-92 and 9-93 of the 2001 service manual download. there's some pics.

the $12 one is fine. the bad part is that you only use 2 DROPS !!!

i suspect you could get by without this. or maybe use a microscopic layer of rtv.
