Default 46RH vs 47RH transmission?

Quick question, will a 47RH bolt up behind a 360?

In doing some reading, seems as though the history is that the 47rh is a beefed up version of the 46rh. the info I found doesn't say if uses the same housing?

I imagine like anything else, it is just a matter of time and moeny, neither of which I have. Someone is offering me a good deal on a 47rh, and if it will bolt up the same a 46rh, then I would get it, but it is no use to me if it increases the complexity much at all. I am running a stock 360 so it is not like I need a beefier tranny.

It will not bolt up.

The 47RH will only bolt up to a properly equipped V10 or Cummins diesel. The 46RH will only bolt up to the 5.2L or 5.9L V8s. With money and time, you're right, it might be possible, but I don't think it would be simple.

i agree with jasonw, it's asking a lot to be able to mount a tranny designed specifically for the V10 and cummins diesel to a V8...i'm also sure it is possible, but there would be a lot of custom work involved, which is expensive...you could potentially find yourself stripping down the entire truck to stuff the 47RH into it

How much can you get it for?

A 46RE/RH can be built with quite a few 47RE/RH parts to increase it's strength, but no it will not bolt up to a 360.
