#5 misfire
what spark plugs did you use? i hope not autolites. if so, thats probably the problem. my truck hates 'em. some magnums love 'em. i tried to use them 3 different times and finally gave up. they always caused a misfire. runnin' good on old cheap stock champions now. no issues.
Try Seafoaming the intake and run a few bottles of Techron+ through the gas tank. There may be tons of carbon on the valves in that cylinder. My 98 had that problem still (same cylinder) after replacing plenum. It went away after using the Techron for a while. I was also doubling the dose per gallons of gas.
so i put that heater hose on the plug wire... i reset the codes, no light so far but it still chugs a bit. im just waitin for that dumb light to come back on and tell me its the #5 again. also ive noticed when in park if i rev the engine it floats.. takes a few seconds to come back down to idle.
i did buy sea foam... i also took the iac valve out for curiousity and it was packed with old dry hard oil all over in it.... so i figured i try replacing it. i put the new one in and started it up. i read that if i unplug it the engine should stall out and die. when i unplugged it nothing happened... hmmm thought maybe defective. went and got another replacement. same thing. doesnt even seem like the iac valve does anything. no change what so ever. if anything i swear it seemed to hesitate less with it unplugged....now what?
I didn't tell you to put the Seafoam in the tank!!!!!!!!! Read the damn directions on the can. I said put Techron in the gas/tank.
