Default VIN number breakdown?/Buildsheet

Does anyone know if the numbers on the VIN can be broken down to give specific information on your vehicle, or if it just breaks down the truck infor in respect to time/date etc...when the truck was built. And second question, is there a way to obtain a buildsheet for my truck to see what rear gears ratio, Limited Slip, etc. are on it from the factory. Thanks for any info..

Request build sheet!
If Chrysler doesn't have servers issues, they usually get it done within 2 days. More like a day and a half.

As far as your VIN, certain information can be found just by looking at certain numbers in it.

The sticker on the driver side door jamb will tell you when it was built and a couple other things. As far as the gears go, if you open the glove box, there should be a sticker with that info. If not, there is a tag on the rear diff cover. But either way, unless you have an offroad model. You have a corporate 9.25 axle with 3:55 gears.

Not necessarily on the gears. The 99 I just picked up is just an average half ton, but it came with 3.92s in the rear - probably special ordered, but nonetheless, its not ALWAYS 4.10s or 3.55s.

OP, you can also request a buildsheet online or via your dealership (use your VIN #), and it will tell you everything the truck came with, from your t-case to your axle to your mirrors.
