Add a leaf question
You're right, the short AAL should be okay, I would still check on it periodically though. I am not a fan of the short ones, as they do not engage until the rest of the springs are loaded down, so it won't give as much of a lift as a longer leaf, most of the difference in an unloaded truck will just be the thickness of the new leaf.
Can I ask if you have considered putting airbags on in the rear instead of add a leafs? Add a leafs are godd and everything, but the only downside to them as I have found out with mine, and don't much care for, is they give you a pretty stiff ride in the rear UNTIL you get a load on there. Air bags will allow you to maintain your stock ride and then when you haul something heavy all you have to do is put air in the bags and you've got the strength of an add a leaf, if not better strength than an aal. That's my 3 cents. But I live on the east side of Washington and the roads here are rough to start with so that's what fuels my hate with aal's.
If your three quarter ton is anything like mine, it rides like it doesn't have any suspension at all, when unloaded...... AAL's would only make that worse. (if that is even possible.)
My truck rides like, well, a truck...... washboard roads when empty are fun......

My 1/2 ton rides pretty well for a truck and I don't want to lose that. I think changing out the factory block and the one that comes with the kits for a single block may be the best way to go.
