Default Key Test...Flash Code?

Hey ive read alot about people doing key test to get a flash code. Can anyone explain this to me as how to do it and things i should know about it? Thanks

Turn your key on-off-on-off-on and watch your check engine light. Count the number of flashes, there will be a two second pause inbetween new numbers

and I think the 55 code means it's done... correct me if I'm wrong (it's been a while since I've had to do it)

Yes, code 55 flashes when the test is complete. Also, if you have ever disconnected your neg. battery cable the light will flash code 12 ( that's 1 flash..pause..2 flashes).
